AUTO DETAILING
Every Vehicle Comes Back Cleaner Than It Arrived
Auto detailing is not a deep car wash. It is a complete restoration of a vehicle's aesthetics, inside and out, with every surface cleaned, corrected and protected individually. Washing removes dirt. Detailing restores the vehicle to showroom condition. Sometimes better.
The exterior process includes hand washing, clay bar decontamination to remove embedded contamination that standard washing cannot reach, machine polishing to correct swirl marks and light scratches, and a protective wax or sealant application. If you park near the BNSF Railway tracks running through Broomfield you know the fine metallic dust that bonds itself to paint. Clay gets that out.
The interior process includes hot water extraction on fabric seats and carpets, leather cleaning and conditioning, full vent and panel wipe-down, cup holders, door jambs and everywhere french fries go to die. Every vehicle that passes through SVE's shop for any repair already receives an included interior detail as standard. Our standalone detailing service applies the same standard from start to finish. Call (303) 466-6717.

THE REPAIR
What Our Detailing Service Covers
Every detailing appointment at SVE follows a six-phase process. No step is skipped and no step is rushed. The International Detailing Association notes a proper detail takes several hours depending on vehicle size and condition. We finish when it is right.
Exterior Wash, Decontamination and Paint Correction
We start with a foam cannon to loosen surface grime then hand wash every panel. Clay bar decontamination removes embedded contamination the wash cannot reach. Paint correction uses machine polishing in stages. Cutting compound first, fine polish second to remove swirl marks, light scratches and oxidation. Scratch marks most owners assume are permanent usually come out. Once corrected the paint is sealed to protect against Colorado UV and door dings.
Full Interior Extraction and Surface Detail
We vacuum every surface including under seats and in crevices most people forget exist. Fabric seats are hot water extracted to remove stains, pet hair and embedded dirt. Leather is cleaned and conditioned to prevent cracking in Broomfield's dry climate. All hard surfaces are individually cleaned. Dash, console, door panels, vents and cup holders. We use brushes and compressed air to access places a rag cannot reach.
Engine Bay Cleaning and Final Inspection
We clean engine bays using chemicals appropriate for each component without damaging electrical systems. A clean engine bay makes leaks visible before they become expensive problems and prevents hoses from drying and cracking. After all six phases are complete Jerry and Raul perform a final walk-around inspection with fresh eyes. Streaks, missed spots and anything below standard are addressed before any vehicle is returned.
BROOMFIELD, CO
Why ADAS Calibration Cannot Be Skipped in Broomfield
Why Professional Detailing Makes a Difference in Broomfield
Broomfield's climate and roads create paint and interior contamination that standard car washes cannot address. Here is what we see on vehicles coming into the shop every week.
Rail dust from the BNSF Railway bonds to paint across Broomfield. Fine metallic particles from rail traffic settle onto vehicle surfaces and bond to the clear coat. Once bonded they cannot be removed with standard washing. Clay bar decontamination is the only way to pull that contamination out. Vehicles parked near the tracks in Broomfield frequently come in feeling rough and gritty to the touch even after a recent wash.
Colorado's altitude means UV exposure degrades clear coat faster. At over 5,300 feet the UV load reaching your vehicle's paint is significantly higher than at lower elevations. Oxidation, swirl marks and clear coat degradation all happen faster here. Paint correction removes that damage. Protective sealant applied after correction slows the return of that oxidation.
Broomfield's winter road salt embeds into carpets and under floor mats. Magnesium chloride from Midway Boulevard and 120th Avenue gets tracked into vehicles throughout winter. It accumulates under floor mats and in carpet fibers where it continues to cause damage. Hot water extraction removes it completely. Most quick-wash interior services do not reach it.
Lac Amora and Broomfield Trail mud embeds in fabric seats. Outdoor activities around Broomfield bring mud and debris into vehicles that standard vacuuming does not remove. Hot water extraction pulls embedded dirt from fabric that a vacuum leaves behind.

Broomfield's dry climate cracks leather without conditioning. Low humidity combined with UV exposure causes leather seats and steering wheels to dry and crack faster than in more temperate climates. We clean and condition every leather surface to keep it soft and protected against Broomfield's conditions.
Interlocken parking lot door dings and rock chips become visible after decontamination. Paint correction lighting reveals damage that was hidden under contamination. We have 34 years of collision repair and paint experience in this shop. If we find damage during a detail we tell you exactly what we see.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Auto Detailing, Frequently Asked Questions
Real questions from Broomfield drivers about professional auto detailing.
What is the difference between auto detailing and a regular car wash?
YES
A car wash removes surface dirt. Auto detailing corrects and protects every surface on the vehicle individually. The exterior process at SVE includes hand washing, clay bar decontamination to remove embedded contamination a standard wash leaves behind, machine paint correction to remove swirl marks and light scratches, and protective sealant application. The interior process includes hot water extraction on fabric, leather cleaning and conditioning, and individual cleaning of every hard surface including vents, cup holders and door jambs with brushes and compressed air. A twenty-minute tunnel wash and a quick interior wipe-down are not detailing. The International Detailing Association notes a proper detail takes several hours depending on the vehicle's size and condition. We finish when it is right, not when the clock says to stop.
What should a body shop include when they detail your car after a repair?
YES
At minimum: vacuum of all interior surfaces, wipe-down of the dashboard and door panels, clean cup holders and remove any repair debris from the interior. At SVE the interior detail after every collision repair includes vacuuming all surfaces, cleaning and conditioning leather seats, hot water extracting fabric seats and carpets, wiping down all hard surfaces including vents and door jambs, and cleaning floor mats. It is not a quick vacuum. It is the same interior process we apply to standalone detailing appointments. Customers who have had collision repairs done elsewhere and come to SVE specifically mention the difference in what they receive at pickup. It is the single most mentioned item across our 3,129 Carwise reviews.
What is paint correction and does my car need it?
YES
Paint correction is the process of using machine polishing to remove surface defects from your vehicle's clear coat. Swirl marks from improper washing, light scratches, oxidation and water spots. The defects are not in the paint itself but in the clear coat layer on top. Machine polishing with a cutting compound followed by a fine polish removes that damaged layer and restores the paint's depth and clarity. Your car likely needs paint correction if the paint looks dull in direct sunlight, you can see circular swirl marks when light hits the surface at an angle, or the paint has lost the deep reflective quality it had when the vehicle was newer. Colorado's UV exposure at elevation accelerates clear coat degradation. Most Broomfield vehicles older than two or three years show some level of correction need.
How long does a professional auto detail take?
YES
A full detail at SVE typically takes several hours depending on the vehicle's size and condition. A larger vehicle in heavily soiled condition takes longer than a smaller vehicle that has been regularly maintained. We do not set a time limit and then hand back the vehicle. We follow all six phases of our process in order and Jerry and Raul perform the final inspection before any vehicle is returned. If you need a time estimate for planning purposes call (303) 466-6717 and Tom will give you an accurate range based on your specific vehicle and its condition.
What is the best time of year to get your car detailed in Broomfield?
YES
Spring is the most valuable time. Broomfield's winter road salt, magnesium chloride and embedded contamination from months of cold weather driving have built up in carpets, on paint surfaces and in door jambs. A spring detail removes that accumulation and applies protective sealant before summer UV exposure and hail season. Fall is the second best time. Cleaning and protecting the vehicle before another Colorado winter starts the cycle correctly. That said the clay bar and paint correction work can be done at any time of year. If your paint feels rough to the touch after washing or looks dull in direct sunlight the right time is now regardless of the season.
Why does SVE include an interior detail with every collision repair?
YES
Butch decided early on that he was not comfortable returning a vehicle with a dirty seat and dusty dashboard after it had been in the shop. So SVE just did it on every vehicle as standard. Glass work leaves microscopic particles in vents and on surfaces. Body work leaves dust. Returning a vehicle in worse interior condition than it arrived is not acceptable here. The included detail after every repair is not an upsell and it is not calculated into the repair cost. It is how SVE returns vehicles. It became the most talked about aspect of the shop experience across our Carwise reviews. Customers consistently describe it as an unexpected touch that tells them exactly how carefully their vehicle was treated while it was with us.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Collision Repair, Frequently Asked Questions
Real questions from real customers about collision repair in Broomfield.
What car damage is not repairable after a collision?
Most collision damage is repairable. The cases where a vehicle is considered a total loss involve structural damage so severe that the cost of repair exceeds the vehicle's value. That determination is made by your insurance company based on the repair estimate. SVE provides a full written estimate so you have accurate numbers before any decision is made. If the car is repairable we will tell you exactly what is involved and what the work covers.
Is it better to go to a dealership or an independent body shop for collision repair?
For most collision repairs an independent shop is the better choice. SVE is BMW certified which means we use OEM parts and manufacturer procedures on BMW and other vehicles, the same standard a dealership would apply. The difference is that we specialize in collision repair exclusively. Dealerships are generalists. We do one thing and have done it for 34 years.
What are the warning signs of a bad auto body repair?
Look for paint that does not match in direct sunlight, panel gaps that are uneven between doors and body panels, any rattling or wind noise that was not there before and dashboard warning lights that were not present before the repair. At SVE we run a multi-stage quality control check before calling you for pickup. Structural alignment is confirmed with computer measurement. Paint is checked under specialized light for texture and color differences. Tom walks you through the finished repair in person before you drive away.
What is the difference between an insurance DRP shop and an independent shop?
A DRP shop is one that has a preferred relationship with an insurance company. Those shops are sometimes steered toward cost-cutting measures that benefit the insurer rather than the vehicle owner. SVE is independent. We work directly with all major carriers but we answer to you, not to the insurance company. Our estimates reflect what the vehicle actually needs, not what an adjuster wants to approve.
What actually happens during a collision repair?
The vehicle is fully disassembled so we can see all damage including what is hidden behind panels. We document everything and coordinate directly with your insurance company on any additional findings. Structural repairs are completed first using OEM procedures. Body panels are repaired or replaced next. Then paint, reassembly and a full interior detail before delivery. Tom walks you through the repair at pickup and answers every question.
What should I look for when picking up my car from a body shop?
Run your hand along the repaired panels to feel for bumps or texture differences. Open and close every door, the hood and the trunk to confirm smooth operation and even gaps. Check all lights, cameras and sensors. Look at the paint in natural sunlight for color match. Your car should show no evidence that a repair took place. If anything is not right, raise it before you leave. SVE offers a lifetime guarantee on all collision repair workmanship.
How does the collision repair estimate process work?
Call (303) 466-6717 or submit a request through our online form. Tom will walk around the car with you and document the visible damage. We provide a written estimate before any work begins. Once the car is disassembled and we find the full extent of the damage we photograph everything and update the estimate. Any additional findings go directly to your insurance company. You are kept informed throughout.
THE PROCESS
What Happens During Your Detail
Every detailing appointment at SVE follows six phases in the same order every time. Skip a step or rush a step and you will see it immediately.
01
Exterior Wash, Clay Bar and Paint Correction
Foam cannon pre-wash, hand wash of every panel, full clay bar decontamination to remove embedded contamination. Paint correction follows under specialized lighting. Cutting compound first, fine polish second. Swirl marks, light scratches and oxidation are corrected before any protective coating is applied.
02
Exterior Protection Applied
Once paint correction is complete a wax or sealant is applied to seal the corrected finish and protect against Colorado UV, road contamination and Interlocken parking lot hazards. The finish is checked under multiple lighting conditions before moving to the interior.
03
Full Interior Extraction and Hard Surface Detail
Full vacuum of every surface including under seats and in all crevices. Hot water extraction on fabric seats and carpets. Leather cleaned and conditioned. All hard surfaces individually cleaned using brushes and compressed air. Dash, console, door panels, vents, cup holders and door jambs. Engine bay cleaned on request.
04
Final Inspection and Delivery
Jerry and Raul perform a final walk-around with fresh eyes before any vehicle is returned. Streaks, missed spots and anything below standard are corrected. Tom lets you know when the vehicle is ready. You pick it up. It looks better than it did when you dropped it off.
