PAINT PROTECTION FILM
Protect Your Paint Before the Damage Happens
You leave the lot with a fresh paint job or a brand new vehicle and hit I-25. A truck ahead throws up a rock and your paint chips. Paint protection film stops that from happening to the next rock. And the one after that.
PPF is a clear self-healing urethane film that adheres to your painted surfaces and absorbs what your paint cannot. Rock chips, road debris, road salt, magnesium chloride in winter, insect acids, bird droppings and tree sap along Midway Boulevard. Surface scratches from car washes disappear when heat reaches the film. The film self-heals and the mark is gone.
Every customer who installs PPF at SVE wishes they had done it sooner. The film is clear, virtually invisible and does not change the color or shine of your paint. On matte finishes it can enhance the surface. On gloss paint it deepens the shine. SVE has been in the paint and body business in Broomfield for over 34 years. We have I-CAR Gold Class certified technicians and paint-certified painters on staff. Call (303) 466-6717.

THE REPAIR
How We Apply Paint Protection Film
Every PPF installation at SVE starts with paint correction and ends with a full magnified inspection before the vehicle leaves.
Paint Correction Before Any Film Goes On
We correct the paint surface before application. Installing PPF over swirl marks, water spots or contamination locks those imperfections in permanently. The surface is detailed and fully prepared in our closed facility so dust and wind from Broomfield do not contaminate the install. What goes under the film is what stays under the film.
Custom Cut and Careful Application
We use specialized software to cut each piece of film precisely for your vehicle's specific curves and panels. This prevents scratching during cutting and ensures complete coverage down to the smallest contour. Our installers use heat and solution to activate the adhesive and force out all air bubbles and water. Edges are tucked and wrapped at bumper corners, mirror covers and rocker panels. This is where most PPF installations fail. This is where our installers spend the most time.
Cure Time and Final Magnified Inspection
After installation the vehicle stays in our facility until the adhesive has fully set. We do not release a vehicle before the film has cured properly along tucks and complex curves. When you return we inspect every panel and seam under magnified lighting. The interior is fully detailed. Tom walks you through the finished installation before you take the keys.
BROOMFIELD, CO
Why PPF Is Worth It in Colorado
Broomfield drivers deal with more paint-damaging road conditions than most Colorado cities. Here is what PPF is protecting against specifically.
I-25 and US-36 produce constant rock chip exposure. At highway speed a pebble thrown up by the vehicle ahead hits your hood with enough force to chip through the clear coat to bare metal. The front bumper takes the first impact. The leading edge of the hood takes everything the bumper deflects upward. Partial coverage handles most of this. Full front coverage handles all of it.
Road sand during winter months adds abrasion damage. Broomfield's road maintenance crews sand heavily through the winter months. That sand is picked up by tires and thrown across front panels at speed. It produces fine scratching across the clear coat surface that becomes visible in direct Colorado sunlight.
Magnesium chloride in winter reaches chips fast. Once a rock chip opens the paint, winter road treatment on Midway Boulevard and 120th Avenue reaches bare metal quickly. The freeze-thaw cycle that follows stresses the damaged edge further with every temperature swing. A chip that starts small in November can be rusting by February.
Colorado's altitude means more UV exposure. At over 5,300 feet UV radiation is more intense and more consistent than at lower elevations. PPF provides UV protection to the paint surface underneath, slowing clear coat degradation on the hood, roof and trunk lid where UV exposure is highest.
After a repair is the best time to install. After collision repair or a fresh paint job your vehicle looks exactly as it did when it left the factory. PPF installed at that point protects that finish from the first mile. Most SVE customers who have had paint work done wish they had installed PPF before the first drive. We recommend it after every paint repair.
Partial vs full front coverage. Drivers who commute short distances around Broadlands and Broomfield Boulevard can protect the highest-impact areas with partial coverage on the bumper, a portion of the hood and mirror covers. Drivers who commute on I-25 or take regular weekend drives to the mountains benefit from full front coverage extending across the full hood, fenders, headlights and A-pillars. Both require the same surface preparation, so the cost difference is less significant than most drivers expect.

WHY SVE
What Sets This Repair Apart
PPF installation quality is determined almost entirely by the preparation and the edge work. Both take time and neither can be rushed.
Lifetime Guarantee in Writing
Every PPF installation at SVE includes our lifetime guarantee. If the installation ever fails due to workmanship we correct it at our expense for as long as you own the vehicle. That is documented on your repair invoice.
I-CAR Gold Class and Paint-Certified Technicians
Our paint knowledge is at a higher level than most installers. I-CAR Gold Class certification combined with paint-certified painters on staff means the people applying your film understand the paint surface underneath it. PPF applied by someone without that background is PPF applied without understanding what they are covering.
Edges Tucked and Wrapped Correctly
Bumper corners, mirror covers and rocker panel edges are where most PPF installations lift and fail within the first year. Our installers spend the most time on these areas. Film that is not properly tucked and wrapped at every edge will lift when Broomfield's heat and cold cycles stress the adhesive.
Full Interior Detail at Pickup
Every vehicle SVE returns comes with a complete interior detail. Not an add-on. Standard on every service every time. When you pick up a vehicle that looks better inside than it did at drop-off, that tells you something about how carefully we treated it while it was with us.
THE PROCESS
What Happens During Your PPF Installation
Every PPF installation follows the same sequence. Paint correction before film. Full cure before release. Magnified inspection before keys.
01
Assessment and Paint Correction
We assess the paint surface and correct any swirl marks, water spots or surface contamination before any film is applied. Installing PPF over an imperfect surface locks those imperfections in permanently. The vehicle moves into our closed facility for installation so dust and wind do not contaminate the adhesion.
02
Custom Film Cutting and Layout
Specialized software generates precisely cut pieces for your vehicle's specific panels and curves. Each piece is laid out and confirmed before adhesive is activated. Custom cutting prevents edge scratching and ensures complete coverage across every contour.
03
Application and Edge Wrapping
Heat and solution activate the adhesive and force out all air and water from the surface. Edges are tucked and wrapped at every corner, mirror cover and rocker panel. Our installers spend the most time on these areas because this is where installations most commonly fail.
04
Cure, Magnified Inspection and Delivery
The vehicle stays in our facility until the adhesive has fully cured along all tucks and complex curves. Every panel and seam is inspected under magnified lighting before release. The interior is fully detailed. Tom walks you through the finished installation at pickup.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Collision Repair, Frequently Asked Questions
Real questions from real customers about collision repair in Broomfield.
What car damage is not repairable after a collision?
Most collision damage is repairable. The cases where a vehicle is considered a total loss involve structural damage so severe that the cost of repair exceeds the vehicle's value. That determination is made by your insurance company based on the repair estimate. SVE provides a full written estimate so you have accurate numbers before any decision is made. If the car is repairable we will tell you exactly what is involved and what the work covers.
Is it better to go to a dealership or an independent body shop for collision repair?
For most collision repairs an independent shop is the better choice. SVE is BMW certified which means we use OEM parts and manufacturer procedures on BMW and other vehicles, the same standard a dealership would apply. The difference is that we specialize in collision repair exclusively. Dealerships are generalists. We do one thing and have done it for 34 years.
What are the warning signs of a bad auto body repair?
Look for paint that does not match in direct sunlight, panel gaps that are uneven between doors and body panels, any rattling or wind noise that was not there before and dashboard warning lights that were not present before the repair. At SVE we run a multi-stage quality control check before calling you for pickup. Structural alignment is confirmed with computer measurement. Paint is checked under specialized light for texture and color differences. Tom walks you through the finished repair in person before you drive away.
What is the difference between an insurance DRP shop and an independent shop?
A DRP shop is one that has a preferred relationship with an insurance company. Those shops are sometimes steered toward cost-cutting measures that benefit the insurer rather than the vehicle owner. SVE is independent. We work directly with all major carriers but we answer to you, not to the insurance company. Our estimates reflect what the vehicle actually needs, not what an adjuster wants to approve.
What actually happens during a collision repair?
The vehicle is fully disassembled so we can see all damage including what is hidden behind panels. We document everything and coordinate directly with your insurance company on any additional findings. Structural repairs are completed first using OEM procedures. Body panels are repaired or replaced next. Then paint, reassembly and a full interior detail before delivery. Tom walks you through the repair at pickup and answers every question.
What should I look for when picking up my car from a body shop?
Run your hand along the repaired panels to feel for bumps or texture differences. Open and close every door, the hood and the trunk to confirm smooth operation and even gaps. Check all lights, cameras and sensors. Look at the paint in natural sunlight for color match. Your car should show no evidence that a repair took place. If anything is not right, raise it before you leave. SVE offers a lifetime guarantee on all collision repair workmanship.
How does the collision repair estimate process work?
Call (303) 466-6717 or submit a request through our online form. Tom will walk around the car with you and document the visible damage. We provide a written estimate before any work begins. Once the car is disassembled and we find the full extent of the damage we photograph everything and update the estimate. Any additional findings go directly to your insurance company. You are kept informed throughout.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Paint Protection Film, Frequently Asked Questions
Real questions from Broomfield drivers about paint protection film and clear bra.
Is a clear bra on a car worth it?
YES
For any vehicle driven regularly on I-25, US-36 or Colorado mountain roads, yes. Every customer who has PPF installed at SVE wishes they had done it before the first chip appeared. The film absorbs rock chips, road debris, insect acids, bird droppings and road salt that would otherwise reach your paint. Surface scratches from car washes self-heal when heat reaches the film. Your paint stays in the condition it was in at the time of installation. The cost of installation is significantly less than the cost of repainting chipped panels after several Colorado winters. If you have just had paint work done or just brought home a new vehicle, that is the exact right time to install it.
What is the difference between PPF and clear bra, are they the same thing?
YES
Yes. Paint protection film and clear bra refer to the same product. Clear bra is the older common name, originally used because early installations covered primarily the front of the vehicle like a bra. PPF is the current industry term for the full category of self-healing urethane film products applied to vehicle paint surfaces. The film itself is clear, self-healing and adheres to painted panels to absorb impacts and contamination before they reach the paint. Different brands and film grades vary in thickness, self-healing speed and warranty coverage. At SVE we discuss the right film option for your vehicle and your driving habits before any installation begins.
How long does a clear bra last on a car?
YES
Quality PPF installed correctly typically lasts seven to ten years before the film itself begins to yellow or lose its self-healing properties. The primary factors are installation quality, film grade and Colorado's UV exposure. Film that was not properly tucked at edges will lift earlier. Film installed over a surface that was not correctly cleaned and corrected will develop adhesion issues sooner. Our installers keep vehicles in the facility until the adhesive has fully cured along all tucks and complex curves before release. Proper installation followed by regular washing is what maximizes the lifespan of the film.
Which is better, clear bra or ceramic coating?
YES
They protect against different things and work best together rather than as alternatives. PPF provides physical impact protection against rock chips, road debris and abrasion. It absorbs the impact before it reaches the paint. Ceramic coating provides chemical protection and UV resistance and makes the surface easier to clean. Ceramic coating applied over PPF gives you both impact protection and chemical protection on the same surface. If budget requires choosing one, PPF is the correct choice for vehicles driven regularly on Colorado highways where rock chip exposure is high. Ceramic coating alone does not prevent paint chips from physical impacts.
What are the drawbacks of paint protection film?
YES
PPF does not prevent all damage. Large sharp impacts from significant road debris can still penetrate the film. The film itself can yellow over time particularly in high UV environments like Broomfield's altitude without regular care. Improper installation that leaves lifted edges allows moisture and contamination to get under the film and cause adhesion failure. DIY installation almost always produces lifted edges and air bubbles that worsen over time. The film must be installed over a clean and corrected paint surface. If the paint has swirl marks or contamination underneath the film they are locked in permanently. Getting the installation done correctly the first time by experienced installers is the most important factor in avoiding all of these drawbacks.
How do I choose a PPF installer without getting ripped off?
YES
Ask whether they correct the paint surface before installation. Any installer who applies film directly over an uncorrected surface is locking in imperfections permanently. Ask whether film is cut on site using precision software or pre-cut by hand. On-site cutting prevents edge scratching and ensures correct fit for your specific vehicle. Ask how edge wrapping is handled at bumper corners, mirror covers and rocker panels. This is where most installations fail and where a rushed installer cuts corners. Ask how long the vehicle stays in the facility after installation before release. Film needs full cure time along tucks before it is exposed to the elements. SVE checks every panel and seam under magnified lighting before any vehicle is released. Our 4.9 rating across 3,129 Carwise reviews reflects 34 years of that standard applied to every vehicle in our Broomfield shop.
